The Jokapoika shirt is Marimekko's oldest classic item in continuous production. It was designed by Vuokko Nurmesniemi in 1956. The Piccolo fabric is older, dating from 1953.
Tasaraita was created in 1968, when Annika Rimala wanted to design a collection of jersey garments to be worn with jeans by everyone regardless of age or gender. Of the original Tasaraita colourways, red-white and blue-white are still being made, as are the classic T-shirts and nightshirts.
